I've been in technology since 1996, starting with building and selling PCs and working my way through every layer of the stack. For the last 7+ years I've focused on DevOps, platform engineering, and infrastructure automation. Most recently I spent 4.5 years as the sole infrastructure engineer at a banking SaaS company, where I owned the full stack for 87 customers and $5M in annual revenue. The work I'm most proud of from that role: I built a Datadog observability stack from scratch where no application visibility existed before, automated customer onboarding from an 8-hour manual process down to under an hour, and led the migration from on-premises hosting to AWS that supported 117% customer growth without adding infrastructure headcount. I also held a VP of Engineering title at the prior company, so I'm comfortable leading teams as well as building systems. My core stack is AWS, Kubernetes, CloudFormation, Docker, GitHub Actions, and Datadog. My last corporate role was a Technical Lead at Prologis, leading a scrum team, and delivering a centralized documentation repository within the Prologis Customer Portal, driving 200 new user registrations. A recent passion of mine is AI development workflows, particularly in discovering areas where AI excels at augmenting developers, and areas devs need to proceed with caution. Recently built a complete Claude Code automation workflow that orchestrates the full feature development lifecycle: Jira integrated spec planning, implementation, Playwright driven UAT, PR generation, code review, and issue transitions. It's cut my development cycles by roughly 40%, and changed the way I ship software. Where I'm most at home is with taking complex business problems and turning them into clean, scalable, and value-driven systems. After plateauing a bit, I shifted to Ruby on Rails and codeveloped a SaaS serving 40+ US states with billions of transactions per state and eventually became manager of the the software developers in the ecosystem. 30 years of paid experience working as a developer of C, C#, C++, Java, Ruby on Rails, Go Co-developer of a suite of SaaS products that have earned over $1 Billion in revenue over 14 years. Legacy lead developer of codebases of over one million lines of code in C and Ruby. Ability to come up to speed on esoteric platforms such as AIX, Solaris, etc., and solve edge cases unique to them. I love stupidly obscure and difficult problems. I love legacy code and getting to exclaim "yitaf would someone do this?" while also respecting that the organic nature of how the code got there is likely lost to time and turnover. These days I use cloud and local LLMs not only to "vibe code" a head start on a solution, but to build troubleshooting and tracking tools and to more quickly iterate on theories about why something might be breaking.

I've spent the last seven years as a Sr. Engineering Manager and Director of Engineering. Before those roles, I worked for about four years as a player-coach, doing single-team management and IC work. My development career started in a role as an electrical engineer. I enjoyed building the software to solve me EE problems so much I decided to learn Python, C/C++, Java, and Perl. I did a career transition and have loved it ever since. My background in development focuses on backend and DevOps. My current focus for development is to familiarize myself with new tech - AI APIs, various cloud platforms (Azure, GCP), etc. I've worked remotely for the last eight years with companies based outside the Tampa area. My goal is to find another director-level role with a local company. I intend to find a hybrid or in-office role that allows me the opportunity to work from an office location. While I'm confident in my ability to remain productive in a remote setting, I believe there are valuable benefits to an in-office setting that I've missed during the past several years.
